Spiritualized Return With Epic Nine Minute Single

It's no secret that Spiritualized have been one of the most consistent and important rock bands in recent memory(We'll say the past 30 years just for the sake of discussion). Jason Spaceman does not short change when it comes to making records that fall into the heartbreakingly epic category. That said, he's been off our radars for quite some time, but 2012 will see the return of Spiritualized.

Pierce's last album, Songs In A&E was released 4 years ago, and on April 17 Fat Possum will release the follow up, Sweet Heart Sweet Light. Today we get our first listen of the albums opening track "Hey Jane", and not to sound hyperbolic, but the song delivers in a way that only Spiritualized can. Check out all 9 minutes of the epic opener below. And you can also pre-order the album now, as well.

Sweet Heart Sweet Light is already our top contender for album of the year.

Set Your DVRs, Season 16 of South Park Premieres March 14

After a tumultuous season 15 of Comedy Central's South Park, the boys are set to return to your lives come March 15. And by "tumultuous" we mean that there was A LOT of speculation that creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone might be throwing in the towel(Towelie?). Rest assured that is certainly not the case.

A few months ago we received confirmation that not only will South Park return March 14(presumably 14 new episodes), but the ink has dried and the show will continue it's run up to season 20, at least! Will season 20 be the year Matt and Trey sing South Park's swan song? It's way too soon to tell, but right now we're still buzzing on the fumes of this great news.

Edgar Wright To Direct Johnny Depp? It's Sure Looking That Way.

The interwebs are rumbling this evening as word is spreading that British director extraordinareEdgar Wright has been in talks to collaborate with Johnny Depp on film based off a short-lived 70's cult sh0w The Night Stalker, which is said to be a show that paved the way for a show like The X-Files. The fine folks over at Cinema Blend have all the deats.

Wright is also attached has a few other projects including another collabaration with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, currently titled The Wold's End, and an adaptation of Marvel's Ant-Man which is being co-written with BFF Joe Cornish, of Attack The Block fame. As far as Wright's next directing gig nothing is official yet, but Nick Frost recently reported World's End could film this year.

All of this info sort of makes sense given this project staring Johnny Depp is being produced by Disney, who also own Marvel, who not coincidentally also own Ant-Man. See where we're going with this? I think ya' do.

The Proverbial Groundhog That Is James Murphy Has Emerged!

Hey, remember about about a year ago when that NYC band, LCD Soundsystem announced they'd be performing their final show in April of 2011? Yeah, of course you do. Well, April of 2011 has come and gone. As far as a touring entity and recording LPs, LCD is done. Although, Mr. James Murphy has not ruled out LCD could return to record one-off single at some point, it's too soon and no one should be holding their breath.

Cut to present day, and it looks like we're getting our first taste of some post-LCD Soundsystem James Murphy. And it's time to get excited because it comes in the form of a collaboration with Gorillaz and Andre 3000.

Here's the great news, the song is as good as it you think it'd be. It's a song called "DoYaThing" and it was recorded for a promotion of sorts with Converse. Now, this guy's been wearing Converse since he came outta the womb, so no complaints about "selling out" here. What are you, in middle school still? Go listen this awesome song right here, and it should be able to download for free via Converse tomorrow.

Also its worth noting that feature-length documentary on LCD Soundsystem's final MSG show being released this year called Shut Up And Play The Hits, followed by an official release of their final four-hour show from April 2011. Color us excited.

Now how about a new Outkast album? Amiright?
